New information about minims

Bausch & Lomb has produced some new information listing all the minims currently available in the UK, giving details of their formulation and, importantly, the restrictions regarding their use.

The list includes minims in the following categories:

  •  Local anaesthetics
  •  Antibacterials
  •  Beta-blockers
  •  Steroids
  •  Miotics
  •  Mydriatics and cycloplegics
  •  Stains
  •  Irrigating solutions

  •  Artificial tears
  •  Combination stains with anaesthetics.

All the minims available for use by Additional Supply Optometrists (previously known as Exemption Level 2 optometrists), such as pilocarpine and atropine, are included. A free copy of the Minims Product Information Portfolio is available in either booklet or poster form and interested readers (UK-based only) should call Bausch & Lomb customer services on 020 8781 2809.

Bausch & Lomb is keen to point out that, although this document states otherwise, the combination products Minims proxymetacaine and fluorescein and Minims lidocaine and fluorescein are available for use by optometrists.
