Eighty per cent of the British population would feel comfortable wearing glasses, while over 90 per cent have visited an optician at some time according to the results of a survey by Siemens Hearing.
The survey compared public perceptions to hearing and vision aids and revealed that only a third of the 2,107 questioned would feel comfortable wearing a hearing aid.
Audiologist Rob Ryman from Siemens commented: 'The fact that more than twice the number of people would feel happier wearing glasses than a hearing instrument demonstrates that people still think of hearing instruments as clunky, protruding, banana-shaped devices.'
