Munich targets start-up firms

Preparations are under way for the three-day (January 23-25) Opti '09 trade show in Munich, under new organiser GHM.

Alongside the trend hall, C1, there will be a new showcase for designer and creative labels with the 'Yes! Young Eye Styles' Hall, C4. This will focus on young, creative firms, and will have a different image to the other halls, with a lounge, chill-out music and subdued lighting.

Newcomers, such as young designer labels and start-ups under two years old, will be offered an all-inclusive stand package, called the 'Opti box' in the Yes! hall.

GHM will expand the show's services, while continuing with the Opti Forum lectures, Opti Campus with optometry colleges and the Alumni Meetings. It also plans to expand the audiology and contact lens sections, with more specialist information available. The Contact Lens Symposium of the WVAO will be held on the first day of the fair.
