Gosling gets SMC service medal

On rare occasions The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers presents a medal for outstanding service and Ron Gosling (below) was the recent recipient of the Company's Medal from master Robin Weathersby.

Gosling, a dispensing optician, has been a SMC member for 50 years and a Liveryman for 30 years. He has also sat on the society committee, been an OPS examiner for seven years and has been a steward for the past 10 years.

There were also new inductees to the SMC's Livery at its June Court Meeting. They were optometrists David Baker of AA Baker Optometrists in north London, Susan Bowers, a Founder Fellow and trustee of the College of Optometrists, and Jan Kuszlewicz, an independent practitioner and past clinical teacher at the Institute of Optometry, along with Jeremy Jalie, deputy director of the VAO charity.
