Time to look up Look Up?

Practitioners who provide eye care for patients with learning disabilities can now register their practice details on a new database added to the Look Up website, which can be accessed by patients or their carers.

Another new addition to the website, launched a year ago by SeeAbility in partnership with the RNIB, is a chat forum for optometrists, care staff and service users to exchange information about issues relating to eye care for people with learning disabilities.

The site also now features downloadable pre- and post-eye test forms to help optometrists evaluate how best to test the sight of individual patients as well as assessing the success of the eye test.

Deborah Hamlin, SeeAbility's director of information and advisory services, said: 'The response has been terrific and we believe the new additions to the website will enable every optometrist to get the information they need to test the sight of a person with a learning disability.'
