Boyfriend charged with DO's murder

greenA 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his girlfriend, dispensing optician Hollie Green, who was found dead in her home in Lordswood, Southampton early on Sunday morning.

Police were called to the third-floor maisonette shortly before 5am, where they found 21-year-old Hollie dead from injuries to her neck.

She shared the flat with her boyfriend, Daniel Gibbons, who was found at the scene and taken to hospital, after which he was arrested and taken into police custody.

Hollie was employed by Specsavers, Shirley High Street, Southampton where she had worked for nearly six years. She had a young daughter with Gibbons.

Forensic examinations were being conducted inside the home. A neighbour told the Southern Daily Echo newspaper: 'They've got a little girl and seemed a really nice little family,' before adding 'they were very quiet, we never heard anything from them'.

Paying tribute to Hollie, Specsavers Shirley store director Leighton Simmons said: 'On behalf of everyone at Specsavers I would like to express our deepest sympathy. We are shocked at the news and are grieving at the loss of a close friend who bought so much happiness to our work and personal lives.'
