Luxottica will be returning to Optrafair this year to support the optical industry in a time of recession.
Absent from the last show in 2007, Luxottica said it hoped its presence would send a positive and strong message to the British optical industry and persuade other manufacturers to follow its example.
Andrea Dorigo, Luxottica's managing director for the UK and Ireland, said of the decision: 'In a difficult year like this one, we felt it was of great importance for us to be close to our customers and going to Optrafair seemed like the most obvious choice. Many of our clients with whom we have built a strong partnership over the years have asked us to be there.'
Dorigo claimed that the decision had caused 'a great buzz [among customers] about us returning to this internationally renowned exhibition'.
Another major manufacturer, Marchon, has also recently signed up to exhibit at the NEC show from April 4-6.
