Staff at Boots Opticians and Dollond & Aitchison have been informed that David Cartwright has been appointed professional services director of the newly merged businesses, Optician has learnt.

Cartwright, who is currently professional services director of Boots Opticians, will report to Andy Ferguson who has been appointed managing director of the new business. Staff were also told that Rob Hogan, who is currently professional services director for D&A, will continue in this role and will report to Cartwright.

Repeated requests from Optician for a formal confirmation of Cartwright's appointment to the Boots Opticians' press office went unanswered.
