Hampshire optometrist Fiona Molloy recently competed in the Bournemouth triathlon as part of her preparation for the Alpe d'Huez triathlon later this month.

Molloy is part of a six-strong team of optical professionals taking part in the event for Vision Aid Overseas (see Optician 04.07.10).

The team have already helped raise £2,500 through the Optician Awards and have received donations of kit or cash from Essilor, BBGR and Transitions.

Rupp+Hubrach has donated team kit and donated £500 to VAO. Individual donations can be made by at www.justgiving.com/OpticianTriathlonTeam.

Other team members include Nigel Maycock and Lyndon Ferguson from the Guildford area, Lisa Evans from Cardiff, James Eastwood from Bristol and Optician editor Chris Bennett. A training update on the team will be featured in next week's issue.
