Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is an XML-based format used to enable the simple distribution of online content. OpticianOnline.net offers its users the chance to access the very latest stories using this format in conjunction with a downloaded RSS reader or via a web based RSS program.
By using an RSS reader you can access the very latest headlines from hundreds of websites across the world and now OpticianOnline.net has created a news and jobs feed for you to access in this way. This completely free service gives a user the chance to look over headlines and summaries of all the latest OpticianOnline.net stories and then gives you the chance to click into the story to be taken to the full version. We currently uses RSS version 2.0 to provide this service
How do I use it?
To use an OpticianOnline.net RSS feed you simply need to download and install a RSS reader. Many recent email programmes also have built-in RSS readers. You can find a list of RSS readers at these third party sites:
Once a reader is downloaded all you need to do is click on the feed buttons that take your interest below and follow the instructions on your RSS reader to access the headlines. Usually this involves cutting and pasting the URL of the RSS feed into your relevant area of your news reader.
