We are currently recruiting for an Optometrist to join this highly successful Optical practice based in Edinburgh.
The company has been established within the Optical field for well over a century and as such is well recognised within the marketplace for providing a professional and friendly service. The company ensures all of their staff are trained to the highest standard by ensuring all their new staff complete an intensive 3 month training programme followed by ongoing training to aid in continuous development.
Job Purpose:
To maximise customer service, sales, and profit through the delivery of outstanding eye care and the development, leadership and coaching of your team to deliver first for service, and exceptional business results
Responsibilities:


- Proactively coaching and developing colleagues to support personal development.

- Identify within the team the development needs of colleagues.

- Agree with Branch Manager regular eye test observations to share feedback for improved recommendations and performance.

- Take responsibility for the delivery of clinical training, and support your Branch Manager with non-clinical training.

- Actively participate in all branch training and focus meetings and take responsibility for the running of them.

- Support other clinical colleagues with their development.

- Develop the clinical skills of colleagues to enable delegation of appropriate functions to support business performance.

- Praise & recognise the achievement of colleagues Standards.

- Maintain and develop clinical, behavioural and commercial standards in line with company expectations.

- Deliver outstanding eye examinations and contact lens appointments.

- Maintain consistent clinical competence and compliance through Continuous Education and Training and ongoing Professional Development.

- Ensure accurate, comprehensive, legible and timely completion of record cards, NHS paperwork and all other administration.

- Ensure excellence in personal appearance, branch housekeeping and hygiene.

- Ensure security and maintenance of optical equipment in branch.

- Address any clinical concerns through peer review with fellow clinicians.

- Attend all company training and communication sessions Service.

- Exceed Customer Expectations.

- Recommend all appropriate eye care solutions to all customers.

- Treat each customer as an individual, providing them with full explanations throughout the eye test.

- Regularly perform contact lens checks and assessments.

- Ensure that every customer receives a clear recommendation and 3 way handover to a colleague.

- Take responsibility for the development of effective pre-screening routines.

- Observe, feedback and coach colleagues on the delivery of the customer journey.

- Participate in local shared care schemes where appropriate and agreed by the Company.

- Be prepared to cover other local branches when required by the business.



Key Requirements/Qualifications:


- Sound working knowledge of professional, legal, ethical and company standards.

- Up to date registration with the GOC.

- Effective interpersonal and influencing skills.

- Ability to develop and coach.

- Experience of driving excellent customer service and branch performance.

- Ability to set clear goals and objectives.

- Effective planning, organisation and delegation skills.

- Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to influence at all levels.

- Logical approach to problem solving.

- Ability to be flexible and able to work under pressure.

- Self motivated, focused and able to work alone and as part of a team.

- Ability to deliver high standards of clinical excellence within a framework of commercial success.
