Readers' lives

There was an enigma in the entries for the Optician Awards. Among the many conventional entries was one in the Freshlook Optical Assistant of the Year category that both worried and intruiged us.
Mention a revisit to most opticians and they will let out a groan but not Mark Hurlbut. He is the green eyed bass player with the Preston band Revisit.

How good it is to see the press taking an interest in optometry.
Last week a hack from the Newcastle Journal decided to pop along to the optician, well it was only seven years since he had been.
The report ( seriously have a look) is truly bizarre.
Presumably it must be Geordie humour although I know a few people from the North East and generally this is the sort of stuff they hate, pure Sid The Sexist ( Viz circa 1990 stuff).
The only difference being is that it is angled at at the overweight, one optician in particular.
Perhaps I'm just a soft southern ba?%*@^rd.
An ex-Optician staffer recently sent this video to view ">this video.
He moved from optics to a human resources magazine called Personnel Today.
So is there life after Optician?
It is always interesting to see how optical communities operate abroad. One story which recently came to my attention would gladden the heart of many a contact lens optician.
Love them or loathe them the Americans draw a line in the sand and woe betide anyone who crosses it.
It is just a few short weeks since I switching back into my specs.
Anyone reading this blog will have heard me rant on about my renewed enjoyment of Vision by Conran, Rupp + Hubbrach/ Rudy Project specs and Hoya Polarised lenses in Silhouette frames.
But I have a confession to make.
I has a strange email from a readers last Friday morning.
The email was to inform me that the reader had a strange issue of Optician.
Have received my copy today which starts on page 11 then goes to page 18 then back to page 11 then goes up to page 42 then back to page 36 and finishes on page 51 !!! Comments please
Just hours after complaining about my vision while swimming I learn that some Aqua Sphere swimming goggles are winging their way to the Optician office for a Tried and Test piece.
I'll keep you posted.
