Call for donations ahead of eye care trip

Mackie Opticians and the Right to Sight charity have asked for donations of spectacles ahead of tips to Indian and Cambodia to set up eye care clinics at orphanages.

Practice director Dr Scott Mackie (pictured, right) said: ‘We run eye camps in India and Cambodia. This involves providing both recycled and new spectacles to some of the poorest and vulnerable individuals in society in addition to providing lectures and workshops to professional colleagues as knowledge transfer.’

Donations of complete or unglazed frames are welcomed and will be sorted by prisoners at HMP Barlinnie, who get certificates that help them gain employment.
