Independent Marketing Partnership leaflet

A new marketing initiative led by the Independent Marketing Partnership is designed to help practitioners generate more patient appointments and recalls.

As part of the initiative, the partnership is distributing a consumer leaflet entitled Delivering the highest standards of professional eyecare, which is personalised with the practice’s details and explains why regular examinations are important.

It also describes what happens during the eye test in order to reassure patients and promote the practice’s clinical excellence. The initiative also offers recommended text for the practice recall notice and follow-up reminder letters, which work in tandem with the leaflet to motivate patients to make an appointment.

Norville Protective Eyewear catalogue 2010

Norville has released its latest protective eyewear catalogue and for the first time it will feature Trivex lenses.

According to the company, petrochemical companies seeking EN166 Grade F impact protection opt for Trivex lens material over polycarbonate lenses which are more susceptible to chemical attack and crazing around the unprotected lens edges.

Trivex is also lighter at 1.11sg and offers superior optical quality (abbe value 45).

The lenses can be supplied tinted, polarised or with Transitions and are suitable for outdoor workers. Featured in the latest catalogue is the wraparound SW06E model which can be glazed with Trivex or Polycarbonate lenses to high prescriptions and meets EN166-F requirements.

Bluebay injects a little colour

Exuberant shapes and cool colours define Safilo’s latest Bluebay collection. Flamenco men’s acetate sunglasses feature rectangular fronts and temples accentuated by a line carved in the bi-layer acetate to reveal a contrast in bold shades of blue-red, black-orange, brown-orange-bordeaux and total black.

The injection-moulded Caicos women’s sunglasses feature maxi-sized oval eyes and come in muted shades of purple, Bordeaux brown and Havana for a vintage effect. Contour-hugging Rueda women’s acetate sunglasses have soft rectangular fronts and an oriental-inspired motif on the sides which is set off by bright colour combinations of Havana-yellow, brown-white-fuschia and purple-peach.

Minimalist men’s acetate and steel optical frames and lenses are supported by nylon for a lightweight finish and feature temples characterised by contrasting graphic lines. Women’s lightweight steel frames with oval eyes display horizontal lines in contrasting colours such as wine-fuchsia and sand-orange.

Bold choices for all ages

Ten new styles have been added by Brulimar to its Bench Kids range. Aimed at the five- to 14-year-old market, frames in the Bench Kids collection are designed to emulate popular styles in the adult eyewear market and are adapted to fit comfortably on smaller faces.

There are touches of vibrant colour, as can be seen with model BCK-30 (top). This is a high-grade nickel silver frame in purple, black or brown, with multicoloured laminated acetate flexi sides.

Brulimar has also launched six new unisex styles for the Bench adult collection which it reports reflects an increasing cross-over in male and female eyewear fashion.

Exemplifying this trend is model 109 (bottom) which has a lightweight stainless steel frame with distinctive wide striped temples featuring a short ear tip in shades of gunmetal, dark brown, matt black and purple.

‘Modern women are far more likely to make bold choices in their eyewear and we’ve found more and more of our most typically masculine frames are being picked out by stylish female wearers,’ said Howard Librae, managing director of Brulimar.

Hoet creates Swift design

Belgian design and eyewear company Hoet has designed a new frame presentation system for practice window displays.

Swift revolves round a central pedestal and can be suspended at heights of either 40cm or 140cm.

While it is a static display, Hoet said Swift creates a sensation that the frames are ‘flying towards the customer’.

Hoet describes the display as being the successor to its earlier Birdy model.
