
With discussion of artificial intelligence (AI) ubiquitous at the moment, the seminar programme at 100% Optical incorporated two sessions dedicated to the topic.
The first session, a demonstration and discussion workshop on ChatGPT and other AI models for optometric practice, was presented by optometrist Kishan Devraj, an honorary clinical research fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital and founder of the Ask Fellow Optoms app.
To illustrate the potential usefulness of AI models, Devraj recounted the story of a four-year-old child who had suddenly began experiencing chronic pain and had seen 17 different doctors over three years, but none were prepared to take an overview of the various symptoms.
