Brien Holden makes Eureka prize shortlist
Professor Brien Holden has been shortlisted for the prestigious Eureka science prize in Australia.
He was one of three candidates shortlisted for the CSIRO Eureka Prize for Leadership in Science award. The winner will be announced on September 6.
Professor Holden has been a major global figure in profession for 40 years, addressing avoidable blindness and vision impairment.
The CEO of Brien Holden Vision Institute has established four major research organisations at the University of New South Wales, and a series of humanitarian and education organisations worldwide.
Previous winners of the Leadership in Science prize have included Scientia Professor Martin Green, a leader in solar cell technology, Professor Michael Good, for leading the development of a malaria vaccine, and Professor Robert Clark, who is at the forefront of quantum computer technology.
