Outstanding companies in the medical sectors, including optical firms and practices, are being invited to submit applications for the annual Queen's Awards for Enterprise.
The awards, which recognise outstanding achievement in business, are made each year by the Queen, on the advice of the Prime Minister's office. The advisory committee includes representatives from industry and commerce, government officials and trade unions.
There are three separate categories: International trade, Innovation and Sustainable development. To qualify, businesses must employ at least two full-time workers and must be able to demonstrate commercial success.
'Over the years, the health, medical and dental sectors have been well represented in The Queen's Awards but I'm convinced there are many more worthy firms out there who could be in line for an award,' said Stephen Brice secretary to The Queen's Awards Office.
