
Salford-based student optometrist Zara Shafique has been suspended from the GOC’s register for two months after a fitness to practise committee hearing.
The committee said Shafique’s fitness to practise was impaired by reason of misconduct in relation to falsifying patient records for a contact lens fitting that had not taken place.
In August and September 2023, Shafique falsified records on a patient’s full fitting, order, contact lens check on collection, and end of trial because she needed a record for competencies for an exam.
