Welsh Government updates fees structure

The Welsh Government has announced updates to eye examination and domiciliary fees, payments for continued professional development and pre-registration supervisor grants.

From October 20, the GOS fee for 2023/23 increased to £43.00 while the eye examination service fee was set at £70.00 (previously band one), £53.00 (previously band two) and £26.00 (previously band three) for 2023/2024.

The fee for NHS domiciliary visits carried out after October 20 was £38.27 for the first and second patients and £9.58 for third and subsequent patients.

To ensure engagement across Wales, newly established Optometry Cluster Collaboratives will host regular meetings, with practices in each cluster expected to attend at least four reimbursable meetings per financial year.
