Which? ranks independent opticians top

Independent opticians were rated as the top choice for eye care, according to a Which? survey of more than 10,000 people.

The survey gathered opinions from patients of eye tests or customers that purchased glasses in the past two years, asking them to rate various brands on a range of measures.

Independents emerged as the highest rated overall, scoring 88% and achieving top marks for customer service, thoroughness of eye tests, addressing eye health problems and practice environment.

Among those surveyed, 98% rated independents’ eye tests as ‘good’ and 95% said they’d recommend independent opticians for buying glasses.

Which? health expert Sara Spary noted: ‘While most people shop with big opticians brands such as Specsavers, Boots or Vision Express our survey shows that it's worth shopping around.
