From the bold shapes that made it a household name in the ’70s to the clean, modern look of its frames today, Silhouette’s appeal has never fallen out of favour. The Austrian brand always places aesthetic at the forefront of its eyewear designs. Silhouette innovates by pushing materials to their lightest, most comfortable and durable form and by creating an opportunity for the wearer to own a frame unique to them.

Model No. 1

Designed in an unconventional, narrow squared shape, Silhouette’s first pair of glasses (the appropriately named Model No. 1) was introduced in 1964 as more than just a visual aid and became an eye-catching accessory. Within just two years of this launch, Silhouette had attracted fans in almost every country in Europe and Canada.

Freeline

Silhouette’s first rimless glasses, the Freeline frame’s launch in 1976 was an important moment in the history of the brand, which is now renowned for its lightweight rimless eyewear. The launch consolidated Silhouette’s fashion standards and brought a new aspect into play for Silhouette – individuality. This philosophy continues to play an important role for Silhouette to this day. Its collection of award-winning rimless eyewear offers endless opportunity for wearers to express their own style by mixing and matching colours, finishes and shapes for a truly bespoke offering.

Titan minimal art

1999 saw an important revolution in Silhouette’s rimless eyewear design with the introduction of Titan Minimal Art. The 1990s were a time of innovation and Silhouette succeeded in crafting eyewear from a titanium alloy that was completely free of frames, hinges and screws, weighing in at just 1.8 grams and making Silhouette the pioneer of lightweight eyewear that it still is today. Silhouette’s Titan Minimal Art collection still continues to grow and is today worn by more than 12 million people worldwide.

Urban Lite

Silhouette’s Urban Lite collection launched in 2014 and saw the brand introduce its SPX material – a patented polymer that is extremely flexible, yet also highly durable and resistant to warping, ensuring a perfect fit that is fully customisable to wearers’ faces to ensure they stay in place all day. Still maintaining Silhouette’s passion for ultra-lightweight eyewear, the material is still practically weightless. A step away from Silhouette’s infamous rimless eyewear, the Urban Lite range offered a number of eye-catching full-rim frames in striking bold colours.
