Childcare issues are clearly a matter for both mothers and fathers but, as the recent Women of Vision survey indicated, they tend to bear more heavily on female Optician readers.

The research found that when it came to caring for a sick child, 73 per cent of male respondents said it was their partner's responsibility to deal with it, but for females polled the figure was 37 per cent. Some 54 per cent of those females surveyed said they were responsible for caring for a sick child compared to 16 per cent of male respondents.
