Charity at work: How freeing up time in the workplace has all-round benefits

Award-winning efforts by a Yorkshire-based practitioner demonstrate how putting time aside for charity at work can boost morale

Major employers in the optical sector are increasingly supportive of charity fundraising efforts by their team.

One example is Vision Express York store manager Judith Crowe, who was this year honoured at a national awards programme in recognition of her personal contribution to a partnership with an eye cancer charity.

Crowe, who has headed up the branch for six years, took the gold award at the Corporate Engagement Awards for efforts spearheading a fundraising drive worth £17,000.

The award serves to celebrate outstanding examples of partnerships that make a difference, and acknowledged the integral role Crowe has played in driving forward charitable initiatives at Vision Express.
