Contact Lens Practice of the Year

Promoting contact lenses as the number one vision correction option helped Querido and Davidson Optometrists win the Optician Award for Contact Lens Practice of the Year. Sean Rai-Roche reports

Since 2007, Querido and Davidson Optometrists in Newcastle has seen a 272% increase in its contact lens business, with contact lens turnover increasing year on year and contact lens products now accounting for more than a fifth of practice income.

Today almost a quarter of contact lenses fitted at the practice are RGPs, including Ortho-K and specialist lenses such as intralimbal and mini-scleral lenses, while just under half of its soft contact lenses are non-spherical torics or multifocals. A combination of this high level of complex fittings while impressively keeping dropout rate to under one patient per month, saw Querido and Davidson take home the award for Contact Lens Practice of the Year at this year’s Optician Awards.
