Pound for pound contact lenses and wearers’ habits must be among the most researched areas of modern life, but it appears that the data is not being understood and implemented as well as it could .

Eye care practitioners are bombarded with information exploring the minutiae of breathability, wettability, modulus and sag heights backed up by studies into wearers’ wants and decision processes but contact lenses based on 40-year-old technology are still being fitted.

CooperVision contends that the data showing which materials and modalities provide the healthiest options are clear. The healthiest contact lenses are daily disposable SiHy. Research also proves that customers want their optical professional to make recommendations and that wearers are not driven by cost. So why are these facts not being matched up?
