Bill Harvey hears about an important study of relevance to all working in contact lens practice, and some disturbing news about face masks

Back in June, I reported on an excellent webinar from the University of Southampton General Hospital which focused on the work being done to minimise the impact of the pandemic on eye care services and health (see Optician 26.06.20). Professor Parwez Hossain, consultant ophthalmologist and key researcher in this work (figure 1), has recently been in touch to tell us of a newly published paper his team have been working on looking into the importance of personal hygiene factors in contact lens associated keratitis.1 He was right when he suggested to me ‘I think the datasets in the paper would be of interest to all involved in contact lens management.’
