Dispensing tools for the job

A round up of various digital measuring devices that help support safe distancing between dispensing opticians and patients

The Visureal Master is a video centration system from Hoya that is said to provide precise measurements while remaining user-friendly for patients. On the hardware side the device boasts a six-camera set-up, encased within an unobtrusive flat mirror case, that can obtain all necessary measurements from a single patient position. Meanwhile, the software allows for automatic evaluation of the data. The Visureal can be controlled by tablets, smartphones and desktop computers from a safe distance.

Lenswear-i is an all-in-one iPad based device incorporating a measuring system, an augmented reality simulation of Nikon’s full product portfolio and a frame selection tool. The company says that many of its customers use the system as a supporting tool to demonstrate various visual solutions together with aesthetic improvement. The device measures lens centration in just one click of the camera and position of wear measurements, including near inset, for lens customisation with a second image. As Lenswear-i is a portable device it allows the user to maintain social distancing while dispensing in any chosen area in a practice.
