September marks Eyespace’s fifth anniversary. Simon Jones talks to the company’s founders and MDs, Jayne and Julie Abel about its first five years in business

In five short years, Eyespace has established itself as a dominant force in UK independent eyewear supply. From the outset, managing directors and founders, Jayne Abel and Julie Abel, used all their knowledge built from decades of shared experience within the industry to create a series of well-defined in-house brands, an attractive business proposition to opticians and a commitment to excellence in their customer services.

Has the success and growth of the company surprised you?

Eyespace There have been a million ‘pinch me’ moments across the past five years, but we knew when we started Eyespace there was massive potential for our business model and so many opportunities open to innovate as a fresh, new player to the optical industry. Across the business we are still experiencing record-breaking growth – the monthly sales reports are a constant reminder of the enormous levels of teamwork that run throughout the company and that make Eyespace what it is today.
