Ever Clean Plus is a one step preservative-free peroxide (3%) solution that Avizor says ensures lipid cleaning within two hours without need for rub and rinse thanks to a new biotechnological agent. Disinfecting against bacteria, Acanthamoeba castellani and polyphaga, Ever Clean Plus is said to be suitable for use with all contact lens materials including rigid gas permeable and orthokeratology lenses.
According to Avizor, Alvera offers enhanced lipid removal action for all types of soft contact lenses and is specially designed for silicone hydrogel lenses. Alvera aims to improve cell viability and prevent infection while enhancing UV protection. Claimed to be the only contact lens care solution with aloe vera, the product is designed to prevent bacterial infections, reduce lipid affinity that adhere to the surface of the lens and increase comfort for the patient due to fewer deposits.
Alcon
Alcon’s Opti-Free PureMoist is a multi-purpose disinfecting solution that benefits from the company’s HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix, which is said to clean, re-condition, rinse, disinfect, remove lipids and proteins and store soft contact lenses. Alcon says the HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix embeds in soft contact lenses, creating a moisture envelope around the lens, and persists for 16 hours. According to Alcon Opti-Free PureMoist has been optimised for silicone hydrogel contact lenses and surpasses ISO requirements for disinfection. Alcon particularly recommends the product for patients who wear reusable contact lenses, want to benefit from 16 hours of comfortable wearing time from a contact lens solution that offers disinfection, or want to reduce end of day dryness.
CooperVision
CooperVision’s Hy-Care multipurpose solution is said to be perfect for patients looking for naturally comfortable vision. Containing hyaluronan, the solution is designed to attract water molecules to deliver long-lasting comfort, hydration and reduced lens-lid interaction. According to CooperVision, Hy-Care delivers powerful disinfection while being gentle on the eye due to its pH level designed to mimic tears. The product’s polaxamer surfactant and rub and rinse step
aims to ensure effective protein and lipid removal from all soft lens types, including silicone hydrogels.
Also from CooperVision, All in One Light is a versatile multipurpose disinfecting solution specifically formulated for those with sensitive eyes. All in One Light is said to be compatible with all soft lens types, including silicone hydrogels, and deliver highly effective cleaning while its polaxmer surfactant helps remove protein and lipid deposits from soft lens types.
Johnson & Johnson
According to J&J, Acuvue RevitaLens Multi-Purpose Contact Lens Solution uses a unique formula and the company’s dual-disinfecting technology to deliver peroxide quality broad spectrum disinfection, while being clinically shown to help deliver all-day comfort. The contact lens solution is said to kill more than 99.9% of both forms of Acanthamoeba and can provide sustained lens disinfection in the lens case, even after partial evaporation.
Meanwhile J&J says Acuvue RevitaLens Multi-Purpose Disinfecting Solution cleans, rinses, disinfects, stores, removes surface deposits, including lipids and proteins, and rewets soft contact lenses. It is suitable for use with silicone hydrogel and soft contact lenses, and is available in 100ml travel size, 300ml, 360ml, 2x300ml or as a 60ml starter kit.
Menicon
Developed specifically for gas permeable contact lens care, Progent is a protein remover, disinfectant and intensive cleaner. Menicon says the product is effective against bacteria, fungi, virus and Acanthamoeba in just five minutes and against prions in 30 minutes. Progent is designed to be used on all gas permeable lens designs (including scleral and orthokeratology) and is suitable for all gas permeable wearing patients.
Also from Menicon, MeniCare Pure is an all in one gas permeable solution containing a disinfectant that combines a wide antimicrobial activity with low toxicity. The product additionally combines hyaluronic acid for maximum moisture retention, macrogolglycerol for effective removal of lipids and vitamin C glucoside to promote excellent cleaning and comfort.
Oté
Available in 200ml, Oté Fine is said to deliver optimal cleaning and comfort for patients and offers an all-in-one solution for all rigid gas permeable and orthokeratology contact lenses. According to Oté, the product minimises the
risk of irritation through a neutral pH while offering effective cleaning and increased insertion and wearing comfort due to comfort agent HPMC.
Another product in the company’s stable is Oté Clean, which is said to be an optimal daily cleaning solution with alcohol for both soft and hard contact lenses. The product is described as the perfect cleaning solution for intensive use, with alcohol and non-ionic cleaning substances allowing this daily cleaner to remove lipids, proteins and other waste substances that attach to the surface of the lens. Available in 40ml, Oté says Clean is ideal for plasma coated lenses.
Mark'ennovy
Mark’ennovy has announced the incorporation of two new products, Peroxide System and Multipurpose Solution, to its portfolio, effective from the start of October. The one-step Peroxide System with a Vitamin B2 yellow colour indicator is said to disinfect and neutralise in one hour, providing a rapid and comprehensive clean for all types of soft and rigid contact lenses, including silicone hydrogel lenses. Mark’ennovy says the neutralising tablet’s coating dissolves during a 12-minute disinfectant stage on its way to transforming into a preservative-free saline solution at the end of the neutralisation process.
The Multipurpose Solution product contains hyaluronic acid, which is said to lubricate and protect the contact lens from the adhesion of lipids, providing maximum comfort throughout the day. It is suitable for all types of soft contact lenses, including silicone hydrogel lenses, and comes with an antimicrobial lens case.
Bausch + Lomb
