In Focus: Acquisition creates JVP opportunity for practitioners

Optimism Health Group, the owners of OutsideClinic and VisionCall, has expanded its domiciliary eye care business with the acquisition of Care Opticians.

Care Opticians operated 12 regional franchises through England and Wales, providing eye care services to patients at home, in care homes and in sheltered housing.

The brand will eventually come under the OutsideClinic name and expand OutsideClinic’s reach into new areas, such as Kent and East Anglia, where the company has historically found it difficult to recruit. It also strengthened its presence with additional capacity in places where services already existed.

Henry Pitman, chair of the Optimism Health Group, told Optician he first discovered Care Opticians a year ago and was impressed by its work, in particular the quality of services delivered by its optometrists.
