CEO of Leighton Opticians, Ryan Leighton, tells Andrew McClean what steps practices should be taking in order to protect their business during the coronavirus pandemic

Protecting cash in the business is the most important thing that any business owner can do during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, according to Ryan Leighton, CEO of Leighton Opticians.

Speaking to Optician about how the group of independent practices is managing the situation, Leighton shared that the next three months is a critical timeframe for the business.

‘We’ve contacted all our landlords and requested six months rent free. We’ve then followed it up with a legal letter to ask them to agree to that. At the same time, we’re also chatting to them about various different options. So, what we’re trying to do is really push out the costs into the business,’ he explained.
