Andrew McClean takes a look at how equipment, ophthalmic lens and contact lens companies are providing relief to practices

Practice owners are taking the necessary steps to ensure their business is sustainable once the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has passed. Government schemes have helped with staff costs, rent and business rates but the optical industry’s suppliers are also providing relief.

Speaking to Optician, David Thickens, CEO of Grafton Optical, said that the company was providing support, services and sales to its customers. ‘We have always strived to work with customers to find solutions that suit individual needs and are happy to discuss this with anyone experiencing difficulties in the current climate,’ Thickens shared.

He also reassured practitioners that the company is taking all of the necessary steps to protect its employees and customers. ‘We are still able to provide the same high level of support that we always have, especially at this difficult time,’ he added.
