Although famous for its Roman spa, opticians in Bath are not wishy-washy about eye care.Sean Rai-Roche reports

During their occupation of Britain, the Romans built baths and a temple on the river Avon after finding hot springs there. Then, in the 17th century, the Victorian belief in the curative properties of the water, and the ensuing hysteria it created, transformed the town into the architectural gem it is today.

‘Bath is a beautiful place. It’s a Unesco World Heritage city and has some incredible Georgian architecture,’ says Mike Killpartrick, manager and owner of Ellis & Killpartrick Opticians in Bath.

Killpartrick says Bath is a ‘very cosmopolitan place’, almost like a ‘mini-London’ and he enjoys walking around the town and hearing the variety of accents and languages being spoken.
