New contact lens wearer from trial to transaction - part 4

In the final part of our series tracking the early stages of contact lens wear, our intrepid patient finally comes in for his check-up and orders his first supply of multifocal contact lenses

CL wearer testEven the best laid plans can go astray. With a bout of flu, a re-fit at the practice and wintry weather intervening, it is four weeks before Alan Moore returns to Surrey Opticians for his first check-up. Encouragingly, he arrives wearing his contact lenses.

Optometrist Binti Pattani runs through comfort (generally good but slightly aware of the left lens today), redness (none), dryness (none), average wearing time (8am to 9pm), vision (also generally good) and more.

The only problem Alan reports is ‘dozing on the sofa’ wearing his lenses – as he mentioned during his follow-up call from the practice – which prompts a warning from Pattani about the increased risk of infection associated with sleeping in lenses, although his Air Optix Aqua Multifocal lenses are approved for extended wear.
