Optician Awards 2018: Frame of the Year

This year’s Optician Awards recognised the innovation of Swiss manufacturer Götti with its Perspective rimless frame.

Two years ago, the notion of a rimless style scooping Frame of the Year at the Optician Awards would not have seemed plausible.

All of the innovation and style was in complex frame constructions and bold, full-frame silhouettes. That is not to say there was no development or invention in the rimless frame sector, but it had plateaued, and several key players were enjoying dominance of the high-end segment.

Swiss manufacturer Götti launched its Perspective rimless collection at Opti Munich in January 2017 and stood out thanks to angular lens forms and bespoke 3D printed componentry.

Since then, the rimless and ultra-minimal aesthetic has gained serious traction and the number of luxury independent brands offering rimless collections has mushroomed.
