As you have seen, our Contact Lens Monthly magazine issue has focused on dry eyes and associated issues.

Far from overkill, this is a subject area all eye care practitioners might see as an opportunity to develop their scope of practice, whether qualified as an independent prescriber or not. As our series authored by Craig MacArthur over the last year has shown, dry eye presents in a number of ways and requires a focused approach to assessment and ongoing management.

Considered by some as a minor issue, our patients beg to differ and the chronic nature of the symptoms can be quite a burden and merits more than a dismissive handout of hypromellose from an uninterested pharmacist or GP.
