Primary care: Coping with pressure

In the latest in his series of case studies highlighting the ever-evolving role of the optometrist in primary care, Andy Britton details how complex pathology can underlie what initially seems like a simple referral

This case concerns a patient who had initially been referred to secondary care by an optometrist in England for suspect glaucoma in the left eye. The patient had, then, however, relocated to Wales during this process, and the patient’s new GP then requested we undertake an Eye Health Examination Wales (EHEW) Glaucoma Referral Refinement (GRR) as the most appropriate way of managing him.
