Speed is of the essence for optometrist Ben Duffill, who has successfully merged his practice life in optics with being the
manager of a professional motorcycle speedway team. He tells
Joe Ayling how combining both has been an exciting journey

Optometrist Ben Duffill has an advantage over most on the speedway circuit.

Not only does he know each of his drivers have the vision correction they need to manoeuvre the sharpest of corners, he also has day-to-day leadership experience that comes from owning a busy optical practice.

Duffill manages the Redcar Bears Premier League speedway team in the north-east of England, leading seven multinational drivers at events across the country. Meanwhile, he also owns Eye Deal Optical, an independent practice in Middlesbrough serving around 6,000 patients across Teesside.

His passion for speedway stems from his time as a rider, but managing the team has enabled him to stay trackside while ensuring the growth of Eye Deal.
