Sense Medical reveals ambitions for the UK market

Bill Harvey finds out about a new company with big ambitions in medical imaging

Sense Medical was established in 2015 and has very quickly established itself as a major player in the UK retinal imaging and diabetic camera market. The company is now the sole UK supplier of Kowa instruments.

The Kowa Company was founded in 1894 and has since become one of the largest privately owned companies in Japan. The group has four primary divisions among which pharmaceutical products, optics and medical devices play a large role with research and development facilities, factories and sales offices across Japan, and subsidiaries across the globe. With a portfolio ranging from premium intraocular lenses through to fashion brands, promoted by such brand ambassadors as Bruce Willis, it is perhaps a surprise that Kowa does not have a higher profile in the UK.
