Xavier Garcia: Core values
Xavier Garcia combines its three essential values in its autumn/winter 2019 collection: craftmanship, avant-garde design and innovation.
The frames in the new collection feature bold lines, vivid colours and high-quality laminated materials. Xavier Garcia has also introduced titanium as the emblematic material of the collection. Mixed with refined colour ranges and synthetic design, the brand says the new range communicates ‘the search for functionality and wearability that has always distinguished its philosophy’.
The collection will be shown at Silmo Paris.

Fleye Copenhagen: Nordic Light
Fleye Copenhagen has released its new eyewear collection called Nordic Light.
Inspired by the Danish Skagen painters from the late 19th century, the collection aimed to capture the painters’ composition of colours and light.
Fleye's Alvin
The brand’s design team has created its own artwork inspired by the painters and experimented with various materials to see how the surfaces interacted with each other and light. The artworks were captured by still life photographer Ida Emilie Risager and led to the new designs for the Nordic Light collection, which will be on display at Silmo Paris.
Fleye's Katrine
Fleye Copenhagen said that ‘transparency, depth and structure have been applied to create the collection using a varied selection of materials, from light acetates, to warm carbon/wood and fine beta-titanium.’
Zoobug London: Las Estrellas
Zoobug London has teamed up with stylist and children’s fashion expert Kate Hill to launch a sunglasses collection for boys and girls aged between five and nine.

With more than 1,000 exhibitors from every corner of the optical industry, there are plenty of reasons for UK practitioners to consider an autumnal weekend in Paris for Silmo. The show will once again be held in the north eastern sector of the French capital at the Parc des Expositions from September 27 to 30.
New for 2019 is the Silmo Hackathon, which will see five international multidisciplinary teams of five people set tasks relating to the retail world of the future, while those looking to take a break from the hectic show floor will be able to play versions of classic video arcade games with an optical twist.
The Silmo d’Or Awards, which focus on fashion eyewear, will mark its 25th anniversary this year. The jury, chaired by designer and interior architect Christophe Pillet, will consider shortlists made up of renowned names in eyewear design.
A key area to consider while visiting the show is Silmo Next, a space dedicated to futurology with trends and technology showcased alongside related talks from industry experts. Additionally, on Sunday, September 29, the 10th edition of Silmo Academy, the show’s scientific symposium, will be held with a focus on refraction.
