Tried and tested: AM Eyewear

Smart bling is probably the best way to describe this new frame

AM Eyewear is not a brand known to many practices but the Australian maker has carved out a niche for itself by mixing outre styling with interesting materials and a quality build.

Optician looked at M Gerber Classic in black and gold. This is, as the name suggests, a classic shape with some added twists to utilise AM Eyewear’s expertise in stainless steel, sustainably-sourced buffalo-horn, Japanese titanium and Italian acetates.

The piece is surprisingly light for its volume. When worn, Gerber is well balanced and the ion coated titanium nose pads are more comfortable than they look. This is an aficionado’s frame with its most pleasing features in the detail: buffalo horn inserts on the front, superior hinges fully cured acetate and brand engravings. Optically too the frame oozes quality. The coated Zeiss Z lenses are supplied through a collaboration.

Smart bling is probably the best way to describe the frame and Gerber looked the part mixed with a sharp suit for the older wearer. The style seemed to be on trend for those in their early 20s and the round eye shape within the classic frame was noted. For this age group more general purpose wear seemed natural. A boutique end frame with a price to match but wide appeal for those who love their eyewear.
