Why you need to enter our Optician Awards

Business
There are the BAFTAs, the Oscars and the Optician Awards as well as countless local, regional and national awards for business, but who enters them and why?

Winning an award makes good business sense. It will enhance your reputation as an expert in your field, give you valuable publicity to remind current clients who you are and encourage new clients to seek you out. It will differentiate you from the competition and most importantly give the team a boost as their hard work is being recognised and celebrated.

Even better news is that you do not have to actually win to take advantage of these benefits, just being shortlisted is enough to boost business.

So how do you go about winning?

It certainly is not luck – winning an award takes hard work. The first thing to do is decide which awards you are going to enter. Look at the organiser’s websites. The Optician Awards are obviously industry specific, they will show your clients that you are ‘the best’ at what you do. Alternatively you may want to enter a local or national business award. These awards are likely to offer different benefits, some have cash prizes or business support such as mentoring as part of the prize. The press coverage and publicity machines associated with these awards are also likely to be different. An industry award is unlikely to receive national press coverage whereas a national award might. It is worth considering what you want to get out of the award when considering this step.
