Hoya’s 3D facial scanning system Yuniku receives UK launch

Sixty members of staff from 30 practices around the country attended the UK launch of Hoya’s 3D facial scanning system, Yuniku, at the luxury Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire last weekend.

Patients using Yuniku are scanned by two high resolution cameras before a 3D model of their face is created by the software and displayed on a computer screen.

The system then calculates the optimal position for the lens and then tailors a frame, designed by Hoet, for best fit. This frame is then 3D printed in Belgium and glazed at Hoya’s facility in Hungary, arriving at practices within four weeks.

The scanning system costs £12,500 to purchase outright, but Hoya will also offer tailored finance packages.
