AAO attendees back 'standard myopia' management

83% said they strongly agreed that myopia management should be standard care

Results of a myopia management survey were presented at the 2022 American Academy of Optometry’s annual meeting in San Diego, US by the World Council of Optometry (WCO) and CooperVision.

During an earlier virtual event, 83% of a group of 375 respondents said they strongly agreed that myopia management should be the standard of care with 13% who somewhat agreed.

After the WCO’s event, the number of those who strongly agreed rose to 87% and those who said somewhat agree decreased to 9%.

Respondents said they would approach myopia management in children differently (89.5%) and 156 eye care professionals indicated the need for further education on myopia management.
