ABDO appoints new chief examiner

​Dean Dunning has been appointed as ABDO's chief examiner for contact lenses

Dean Dunning has been appointed as the Association of British Dispensing Opticians’ (ABDO) chief examiner for contact lenses.

Having 22 years’ of experience in the optical industry, Dunning has worked as an ABDO contact lens examiner at for theory and practical and has also been programme leader for contact lenses at a number of educational institutions.

Alicia Thompson, Director of Professional Examinations at ABDO, said: ‘I am thrilled to have appointed Dean who brings to the role his many years of experience in both contact lens practice and academia. I look forward to working with him in the exciting times ahead.’

‘I am really looking forward to my role in helping to maintain and develop high quality Contact Lens qualifications,’ said Dunning. ‘The opening of the National Resource Centre later this year will ensure that ABDO are at the forefront of training and assessment as the role of the Contact Lens Optician evolves.’

Dunning will begin his new role in February 2020.
