The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) has announced that the Social, Ethical and Environmental (SEE) Summit will be held on October 3.
Timed to align with the UN Climate Change Conference 2022 in November, it will highlight the importance of environmental sustainability and inspire change by sharing good practice case studies and practical advice.
ABDO President Daryl Newsome said that last year’s summit identified priority areas, created a sustainability tool to quantify impacts which are free to access, and demonstrated the optical community’s ability to collaborate.
Talking of the second summit, he added: ‘This year we look to have even more eye care practitioners and organisations taking part to demonstrate and illustrate new and good practical tips for reducing your practices’ / workshops’ / consulting rooms’ carbon footprint. We will do this with an eye to the future and new products and behaviours.’
