At 100% Optical, the Optical Supplier Association (OSA) highlighted how clinical technology had evolved in the last two years, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) used for diagnoses.
Moorfields’ director Peter Thomas held the presentation “Transforming Healthcare with AI” to share insights on the future of technology – from in-practice to at home with smartphone apps.
Andy Hepworth, chair of OSA, commented: ‘Clinical technology has not stood still for Covid and 100% Optical was a superb opportunity to see the great enhancements to eye health. The diagnosis and care of patients with macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy was of key interest for many delegates. The future of AI in glaucoma diagnosis was also a talking point amongst OSA members at the show.’
Thomas added: ‘OSA is a meeting place – not just at 100% Optical, but throughout the year – for all aspects of optics. We were inspired by the passion for innovation shown by so many established and new frame companies.’
