AOP criticises newspaper advice on how to cut the cost of eyewear

A tabloid article offering advice on how to cut the cost of eyewear has been deemed unhelpful by the AOP.

‘How to halve the price of your glasses and contact lenses without compromising your eyes’ was published by the Mirror newspaper last week.

The AOP said getting the right pair of glasses, with a prescription that suits the user, and that fits well and is comfortable, was more complicated than it seemed.

In a latest survey, 90% of AOP members agreed patients were more likely to experience problems if they purchased their lenses somewhere other than where their sight test was conducted.
