Bausch + Lomb launches daily disposable lenses for astigmatism

Global eye health company Bausch + Lomb has launched its latest daily disposable lenses for astigmatism.

B+L claimed that Biotrue Oneday for Astigmatism offers clear vision and comfort throughout the day with its innovative toric lens design.

The material technology underpinning the lens’s performance is its Surface Active Technology. This uses the water loving molecule, polyvinylpyrrilidone (PVP), and Poloxamer 407, a surface active macromer. These form a dehydration barrier that helps the lens maintain 98% of its moisture for up to 16 hours, claimed B+L.

The lens features a prism free peri-ballast design to support stability and fit with natural blink patterns. A thin tapered edge design will also help wearers when inserting the lens, reducing lid interactions while orientation marks aid handling.

In a study of 123 non-daily wearing patients carried out by the company, 98% of users were satisfied with the speed of fitting and patients agreed that Biotrue Oneday for Astigmatism provided comfortable vision, in challenging conditions such as at a computer screen or when driving at night.

Amy Rothwell, Bausch + Lomb business unit head UK and Ireland said: ‘By harnessing new technologies, we have been able to widen our portfolio and offer today’s astigmatic patients consistently clear vision and comfort through the day.’
