BCLA reveals its hybrid Focus programme

It announced the game plan for its online and Birmingham-based conference

The BCLA Focus event (June 11-12) has released a speaker programme of international experts exploring the past, present and future of contact lenses.

BCLA’s chief executive, Luke Stevens-Burt, said: ‘BCLA Focus is an exciting addition to our annual calendar of events and we will once again bring the expertise of leading global figures to a worldwide audience for a programme that will get everyone thinking about the way we view the world of contact lenses and anterior eye.’

Sessions included an exploration of lessons from the past 10 years that have changed clinical practice, presented by Professor James Wolffsohn and Professor Lyndon Jones and chaired by BCLA president Neil Retallic.

Retallic commented: ‘It is important to keep up with innovations in ophthalmic technology to be able to offer the best options for a patient’s health and vision related quality of life. This session will reflect on innovations in contact lens practice over the last decade to assess the uptake and how they impact on patient safety, comfort and vision.’

With long term lens wear and benefits to areas such as myopia management on the agenda, a session targeted how to achieve life-long satisfaction and maximise comfort and vision.

The Global Specialty Lens Symposium has also launched a panel discussing how to incorporate scleral lenses into practices.

Meanwhile, workshops will be available to members and non-members on corneal topography and biometry theory and practice, orthokeratology, refining and adjusting sclerals, and demodex and advanced dry eye.
